Maple Syrup Recipe (Refined Sugar Free)

This homemade maple syrup uses a brown sugar replacement sweetener for a zero sugar and low-calorie alternative. It’s great for pancakes, waffles, or drizzling over desserts!


Yield: 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar replacement sweetener (or allulose)
  • 1 tbs maple extract
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp butter extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp xantham gum

Instructions

Step 1: Heat Water & Sweetener

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water and sweetener.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce the heat to low.

Step 2: Add Flavor & Xanthan Gum

  1. Add in maple extract, butter extract, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk ingredients together until well combined.
  2. Sprinkle the xanthan gum a little at a time to the saucepan and whisk everything together for a couple of minutes. 
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and set aside to cool.

Step 3: Cool and Store

  1. Allow the syrup to cool before transferring to a clean glass jar or bottle.
  2. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Reheat gently if the syrup becomes too thick.
